Mount Major in Alton Bay is a popular hike with an easy-to-find trail off of Route 11 and spectacular views at its summit, or visit Rattlesnake Mountain in Holderness, overlooking the beautiful Squam Lake. Those looking for a longer hike may prefer Mount Cardigan in Alexandria, a 4 hour hike starting at the AMC Cardigan Mountain Lodge. After a long day of hiking an ice cream stop is a must! Two great picks to try include classics like The Kellerhaus in Weirs Beach or The Town Docks in Meredith.
Whether you are a bicycle enthusiast, a casual biker, a locavore, nature lover or history buff, you’ll find adventure on The Northern Rail Trail. With connecting trails throughout the Lakes Region, the Northern Rail Trail makes the perfect day trip, or go overnight by taking advantage of their Inn to Inn Bike Tours. The Inn to Inn bike tour combines biking on the Northern Rail Trail with the luxury and convenience of being able to relax nightly in gracious inns, followed in the mornings by a gourmet breakfast before you hit the rail trail again.

Bretton Woods Canopy Tour in Bretton Woods has ten high-flying ziplines, two sky bridges and three rappels finishing with an 800 foot dual zip – a full day’s adventure! Or visit Gunstock Mountain Adventure Park to climb among the trees on the largest aerial obstacle course in New England.
