Travel vacancies jump in September
The number of new job opportunities in the travel industry has jumped to its highest level in four months, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment.
There was a strong rebound in new travel job vacancies following the end of the summer holidays, with September's total increasing by 65 per cent from August. The figure was the highest since May 2022 and was also up by 45 per cent from September 2021, up by 18 per cent from September 2019 and up by 16 per cent from September 2018, but down by 16 per cent from September 2017.
There was also a rise in the number of new candidates searching for jobs in travel last month, with a 12 per cent increase from August and an 18 per cent jump from last September. Compared to pre-pandemic years, last month's total was down seven per cent from September 2019 but up by six per cent from September 2018.
Slower month for job placements
However, the number of applicants being placed in new jobs in the travel industry dipped by 11 per cent in September and fell back to its lowest level since February. Despite this, last month's figure was up by 32 per cent from the same month last year, was level with September 2019 and up by 16 per cent from September 2018.
Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, said: "It was another very positive month for travel recruitment, with new candidates, vacancies and job placements all above their historical averages.
"In particular, recent months have seen a huge increase in both vacancies and placements in the business travel sector, and we expect experienced Business Travel Consultants to continue to be in extremely high demand in the months ahead."
