C&M Travel Recruitment’s Activity Index – March 2024
- New travel job vacancies up 11%
- Job placements reach second highest point in 7 months
- Travel candidates rise from pre-pandemic
Positive month for new roles
The number of new travel job vacancies rose by 11 per cent in March to reach its second highest level in seven months, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment. Despite this, March's total was down by 32 per cent from the same month in 2023, which experienced a strong start to the year.
It was also a positive month for placements, with the number of candidates being placed in new travel jobs reaching its second highest total since last August. However, March saw a small fall of three per cent from February.
New candidates up from 2019
There was a small dip in the number of new candidates searching for travel jobs in March, with the month registering a two per cent fall. However, this remained up by 25 per cent from the pre-pandemic month of March 2019 and was the second highest March total in the past six years.
Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment, said: "Activity levels are still lower than we would ideally like to see them and remain down compared to the pre-pandemic period, but there were many positives to take from last month. Job vacancies and placements both reached their second highest levels since last summer, while the number of new candidate registrations also remained historically high for March.
"We now need some consistency. Easter is likely to affect April's numbers, but once that's out of the way we will hopefully see month-on-month increases across all of these metrics as we build towards the summer months."
