BRIDAL COUPLES OPT TO HEAD SOUTH FOR WEDDINGS IN GREECE!
Industry: Events

Bridal couples are heading south to the land of the Calamata olive tree to celebrate their wedding in Greece!

(TRAVPR.COM) GREECE - 9th February, 2010 - Design a day Certified Wedding and Event Specialists report the latest wedding trend in Greece is that bridal couples are turning their eyes toward the Navarino area in Messinia to the land where the Greek Calamata olive is grown exported and enjoyed world wide as one of the finest Greek delicacies, as their choice of a wedding venue.

Located in the Greek region of Messinia in the southwest Peloponnese this area is one of the most unspoiled and breathtaking seaside landscapes in the Mediterranean. Shaped by 4,500 years of history. Here the philosophy is driven by a genuine desire to promote Messinia while protecting and preserving its natural beauty and heritage, which is why the building footprint of this stunning resort at Navarino has taken less than 10% of the total land area.

Now complete, it comprises a number of distinct sites featuring 5-star deluxe hotels, luxury residences, conference facilities, natural sea therapy and spa centers, signature golf courses, as well as a wide range of year-round activities for adults and children which are unique in the Mediterranean.

One of the largest natural harbors in the Mediterranean and site of the famous Navarino Battle has now become the brand new travel attraction to brides and grooms wanting to celebrate their wedding in Greece. Steeped in history, where in 1827 a combined British, Russian and French fleet destroyed an Ottoman armada, this brand new resort gently lies in the “armchair comfort” on the beach front of the Peloponnese in Greece.

History has it that the Ottomans suffered a crushing defeat here and shortly after began to evacuate Greek territory, leading to the creation of the independent state of Greece. This specific area is also notable for being the last major naval engagement fought wholly with sailing ships.

The romantic side is that many famous composers, poets, writers and artists have been inspired by this battle, including the English marine painter George Philip Reinagle, who was present at the battle on board HMS Mosquito. This commander-in-chief of the Allied forces in Greece then was a British admiral, Sir Edward Codrington, who some years earlier made a name for himself at the pivotal Battle of Trafalgar.

On the islet of Helonaki, which stands in the center of the bay, a monument was erected in memory of the British sailors who fought in the battle. British officials visit the monument each year during events to mark the historic naval engagement. Young bridal couples are discretely locking in bookings as this brand new establishment of understated luxury with its scenic beauty, calming tranquility and breathtaking views, opens its doors in May 2010.
