C&M Travel Recruitment’s Activity Index – September 2024

• Vacancies rise 80% in September
• Placements and candidates also up

Big rise in new travel jobs

The number of available new jobs in the travel industry rose by a huge 80 per cent in September, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.

This was the biggest month-on-month increase since January and means that new travel job vacancies have reached their highest total for six months. In addition, last month's figure was up by 29 per cent from September 2023.

Recruitment market heats up post-summer

Similarly, there was an increase in candidates beginning their search for new travel jobs, with September's total rising by 12 per cent from August. The number was also up by 29 per cent from the same month last year and was the highest total for the month of September since 2017.

Completing the positive picture, September saw a 27 per cent monthly increase in new job placements, with the number of candidates being placed in new jobs in the travel industry reaching its highest level since May.

Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment, said: "While it's great that new placements, vacancies and candidates all rose month-on-month in September, it's even better to see that vacancies and candidates also increased from the same month in 2023 – with placements holding steady too.

"This is a really positive sign as we head into the fourth quarter of the year, with many candidates and decision makers leaving their summer distractions behind and focusing again on new jobs and new talent.

"However, we can't get ahead of ourselves – the summer was quiet for the travel recruitment market, but hopefully we can build on the momentum from September and see more increases in activity over the next few months."
