MONTPELIER NEVIS DEBUTS NEWLY DESIGNED GUEST ROOMS IN OCTOBER 2026
Industry: Hotels

Historic Caribbean hideaway announces a vibrant new design direction, led by Los Angeles–based Wilson Studio.

This summer, Montpelier Nevis will begin a bold new chapter, with the full renovation of five guest rooms carried out by Los Angeles–based interior design firm Wilson Studio. Work will take place during the hotel’s annual seasonal closure, from 13 August to 6 October 2025, marking the start of a renewed design era for the beloved West Indies hideaway.

Each of the five rooms will be completely reconceptualised. In addition, revitalised hues and tactile touches drawn from a vibrant Caribbean palette are being introduced across the rest of the property, ensuring a sense of cohesion and continuity throughout.

At the helm of the project is Liz Wilson, Wilson Studio’s founder and long-time visitor to Nevis, whose link to the island stretches back to childhood. “Montpelier has always stood out to me,” she says. “It's a place where people feel at ease and are connected – to themselves, to nature and to history. This project is deeply personal and I am thrilled to help shape its next phase.”

A fresh take on island living

Grounded in relaxed, textural interiors layered by custom furnishings in uplifting colours, Montpelier's new rooms seek inspiration from the tropical isle's natural beauty – from bold banana leaves to soft tropical corals. At the heart of the design is a vibrant sense of place, with materials chosen not only for comfort and style but also for their durability in the Caribbean climate.

“This project is about continuity as much as change,” says Muffin Hoffman, owner of Montpelier. “It is a way to honour what makes Montpelier special, while gently reimagining it for today’s traveller — with colour, comfort, and a strong sense of place.”

The newly designed rooms will also feature the studio’s celebrated Wilson mirrors — sculptural textile pieces created from repurposed designer fabrics and finished with coloured acrylic in place of glass. The effect is playful, artful and fitting for Montpelier’s blend of heritage and imagination.

Setting the tone for Montpelier's Diamond Anniversary

The upcoming guest room renovation is the latest in a series of ambitious enhancements of the property. In recent years, Montpelier has completed a full re-design of its private beach club (including the refurbishment of its open-air beach bar), introduced a new culinary identity with the rebranding of its signature restaurant The Terrace (formerly 750) and resurfaced its tennis court to now accommodate both tennis and pickleball, expanding the hotel’s recreational offering. Together, these updates mark a graceful re-envisioning of the hotel, setting the tone for Montpelier’s Diamond Anniversary in 2026, celebrating 60 years since the hotel was first built and began greeting guests.

Tucked into the foothills of Nevis Peak, Montpelier is a quiet distinctive retreat, offering a sense of ease and elegance in one of the Caribbean’s most sought after settings. Family- owned and set on a historic sugar estate, the hotel welcomes guests with thoughtful service, refined cuisine and an atmosphere inviting undivided rest and deep connection to nature.
