WORLD'S LARGEST ONLINE SAFARI RESOURCE LAUNCHED
Industry: Safari
SafariBookings.com

Renown safari experts, world famous wildlife photographers and travel enthousiasts co-create extensive safari resource

(TRAVPR.COM) THE NETHERLANDS - January 30th, 2013 - With more than 2,200 unique user reviews, over 750 expert reviews from renown safari veterans and an unmatched collection of both editorial and visual information, SafariBookings.com instantly became one of the world’s largest African Safari resources the moment it went public this week.

SafariBookings is the latest startup of Ximon Media, led by Dutch serial-entrepreneur Wouter Vergeer (34). The company has spent the last two years searching the web for people who have been on safari and inviting them to write a review. As a result, the website features more than 2,200 user reviews, written by people from over 50 nationalities. Additionally, most of the reputable guidebook authors -working for Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Frommer's, Bradt and Footprint- teamed up in the
SafariBookings Expert Panel and wrote another 750 expert reviews.

Renown experts and photographers

Besides the reviews, SafariBookings features a wealth of expert information on the 8 major safari countries and 140 parks and has over 3,500 photos from world-famous wildlife photographers Michael Poliza, Ariadne van Zandbergen and Heinrich van den Berg.

A large contingent of specialized safari operators in both African and Western countries have already joined, offering their tours on SafariBookings. The result is an easy-to-compare mash-up of safari tours which makes the process of finding the right safari much easier and less time consuming. The expectations are that, by the end of 2013, over 60% of all major safari operators will be represented on SafariBookings. The combination of user- and expert reviews, detailed information and safari tours makes SafariBookings one of the largest online safari resource available.

About SafariBookings

The team of Ximon Media came up with the idea for SafariBookings by 'scratching their own itch'. After selling their Babunga network to MTV Networks in 2008, the entire team went on safari in Tanzania to celebrate. During the preparation, it became clear that there was no resource available to compare tours from multiple safari operators. For two years they kept a watchful eye on developments in the safari industry and, when nothing had changed by 2010, they decided it was time to create SafariBookings.

In addition to making it easier to find the safari tour you want, SafariBookings also fills other gaps. Most people know safaris can be done in Africa, but many don't know what the best safari countries are and how they differ from each other. The same goes for the many parks and reserves. There are plenty beautifully designed websites of safari operators and accommodations, but most focus on selling what they have on offer and they tend to leave out the inconveniences of a park or less optimal times to plan a visit.

At this point in development the content for all countries is live, as well as the content for the parks of South Afria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. For the parks of Botswana, Kenya, Namibia and Zambia the reviews, maps and photos are live, but SafariBookings is currently working on more editorial content for these parks. They expect this to be completed before July 2013. The other plans for 2013 include a vast online and offline marketing campaign, as well as expanding the content with a complete directory of all major safari accommodations, including reviews. By the end of 2013 SafariBookings will be the biggest online safari resource available.
