(TRAVPR.COM) LONDON,UK - February 1st, 2013 - he Tower of London ravens are one of the main attractions of the famed tower. These beautiful and intelligent creatures guard the tower and are known as the “most pampered” birds in London. There’s even a royal decree that protect these ravens.

Ravens play an important in the history of the tower. In fact, there should be at least six ravens guarding the tower because the absence of the ravens, according to legends, will result to the downfall of the tower as well as the British sovereign. After all, ravens are pretty symbolic, and in some parts of the world, they are considered as prophets or bad omen.

Whether they’re a bad omen or not, ravens are simply adorable, fascinating creatures. While you might think that letting the ravens stay in the tower for good is ridiculous because they’ll have a good chance at escaping, worry not! The wings of the ravens are trimmed, which prevents them from flying away. But despite that, there are still ravens that have been dismissed in the tower including George, who developed an unhealthy taste for antennas. In 1996, there are two ravens who were banished from the tower because they’re developing a conduct toward unbecoming tower residents.

Since things are getting curioser and curioser, you might as well get into the Tower of London tour to learn more about the ravens. Tower of London tours let visitors get to know the resident ravens guarding the tower. Now there are four main areas in the tower where ravens live: Tower Green, Coldharbour Gate, the Wall of the Inmost Ward, and Roman City Wall.

Munin, Thor, and Hugine who all came in 1995 will surely entertain you. How about a quick glimpse at Gwyllum, the oldest among the flock? He’s been in the tower since 1988. And adding a new member to the guardians of the tower is Jubilee, who has been released from her cage to commemorate the celebration of the Queen’s jubilee.
