Malawi-based publisher Central Africana Limited has announced its forthcoming, definitive work on the history and development of the city of Blantyre, Malawi.
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - February 1st, 2013 - Malawi-based publisher Central Africana Limited has announced its forthcoming, definitive work on the history and development of the city of Blantyre, Malawi.
Named after David Livingstone’s birthplace, the city founded in his honour remains the commercial capital of Malawi. In this year of the bicentennial of Livingstone’s birth, Malawi proudly retains many connections with the great African explorer missionary and with his native Scotland through strong church and civic interest.
Nearly three years research by David Leishman - once a Town Planner attached to Blantyre City - and historians have been enhanced with a wealth of engravings and photography to create a 240pp ‘coffee-table’ book full of fascinating illustration spanning nearly 150 years. With provenly strong interest in Scotland in mind, the publisher is looking for a co-publisher well-positioned in the UK to market the book to the historical and tourism/travel oriented book markets and take advantage of Scottish, British and European distribution.
Central Africana's Blantyre gallery is THE place to find Livingstone memorabilia, with significant quantities of prints, maps and books on David Livingstone and the missionaries, explorers who came with him or afterwards. The first floor section is known as the 'Livingstone Gallery', with one bookcase of biographies of the great man and his own rarer and expensive titles!
