(TRAVPR.COM) USA - February 1st, 2013 - Tropical Sails Corp is offering a Safari to Kenya for the November 3, 2013 Total Solar Eclipse. The solar eclipse safari will commence in Nairobi Oct. 25, 2013, where you will board your seven passenger four wheel drive safari vehicle and proceed to the Masai Mara for three days of game viewing exploring the plains and rolling hills for a chance to spot the elephant, black-manned lion, leopard, buffalo, cheetah, and diverse species of hoofed animals.
Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley Escarpment is your next stop visiting Hell's Gate National Park enroute. Lake Naivasha is a diverse bird and animal habitat, Colobus monkeys are often seen in the canopy of the Acacia forests around the lake, and on the north shore of the lake buffalo, waterbuck and eland are often seen grazing.
We travel to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous as the home to thousands of lesser and greater flamingo. The wildlife is stunning (especially hippos, giraffe, buffalo and Colobus monkeys). Next is Lake Bogoria where the shores are always lined with gazelle, zebra, baboons and this is one of the best places to see Greater Kudu. After the week of the regular African adventure safari, we will go north to Eliye Springs for a day of relaxation prior to the solar eclipse.
On November 3, 2012 we will go to Lodwar and then north for the total solar eclipse that will occur at 4:24 pm local time and will last for 16 seconds. Pre and partial phases will last over two hours. We will return to Lodwar for evening celebration.
“This will be a fast solar eclipse equivalent to what usually appears on television,” according to Dan Oppliger of Tropical Sails. I plan to just let the video camera run and enjoy a 16 seconds of totality. The thrill will make the long three days on the road worth the trip.”
The Safari includes modern 7 passenger safari vehicles, tented camps or lodges, all meals, bottled water, solar eclipse viewing glasses and guides. The safari operator has conducted two prior solar eclipse safaris in southern Africa. Tropical Sails Corp has run fifteen solar eclipse expeditions beginning in 1991 in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
