Alila Villas Soori introduces its upcoming program devoted to those with a penchant for universal wonders and admiration of the skies, with its astronomer in residence from May 18-24, 2013.
(TRAVPR.COM) INDONESIA - February 26th, 2013 - Avivah Yamani, an astronomer hailing from Ambon, the Moluccas, sets residence at our luxury villas Bali. The Bandung Institute of Technology graduate has faithfully dedicated her time in spreading the fun knowledge of astronomy through her online website, langitselatan (‘Southern Skies’). She is also Executive Editor of a national astronomy magazine and serves as a national contact for Astronomers without Borders, Galileo Teacher Training Project and the Global Hands-On Universe initiatives.
For the unique occasion, Avivah will conduct a series of stimulating classes. Taking place just before the sun downs over the shores of Kelating, the Astronomy Class starts 04.00pm – 05.30pm with an introduction to astronomy and a bit of storytelling on Indonesian folklore related to celestial objects; a ‘star lore’ session to introduce aspects of astronomy in Indonesian culture.
As the stars begin the reveal in the wide open skies over the resort, the Star Party or Observation Session commences 08.00pm to 09.30pm, observing the night sky alongside a planetarium show and telescope training. Among the anticipated highlights would be an astrophotography session so prepare your camera and enjoy a truly a stargazing event beyond mere stargazing.
