THE DOMINICANA MODA 2013

The Dominican Republic’s prestigious Fashion Week, Dominicana Moda, first held in 2006  with the appearance of designers such as Elie Saab, will be held this year  21 – 26th October 2013 in the iconic   Western hotel Ambassador in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.

The participation of Elie Saab in Dominican was a milestone in fashion, not only in the Dominican Republic but the rest of the American continent.  Dominicana Moda has become the most advertised event in the history of Dominican Republic. The vision was to present to the world the talent of the Dominican Republic designers who are known for their fashion, just as it is know today by baseball and music.

Elie Saab also participated in the "Fashion for Help " charity event, which closed the event last year.  Since its inception the event has had a spirit of social responsibility, so that part of your income goes to more than 40 charities in our country, which is the ideology of the project, and they spend much of the proceeds to fund humanitarian work carried out by various foundations to the neediest children in the Dominican Republic such as:

• Safe the Children Dominican Republic

• Child Home

• Aids for Aids Dominican

• Foundation helps the malnourished child

• The Merced Foundation shoeshine boys

• Friends Foundation Childhood Cancer

• Foundation joined hands by autism

A total of about 45 foundations that benefit from this initiative and I think worth mentioning, there may not be many more fashion related events of this nature. In a press conference one of the organizers said “that over the seven years of life in DM, 2 million have gone to these foundations and NGOs”,  If you would like further information on the event - log on to http://www.dominicanamoda.com/
