Big Game Parks offers camping and caravanning sites at two of their game reserves; Hlane Royal National Park and Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Hlane boasts four of the Big Five; Lion, Elephant, Rhino and Leopard whilst Hlane offers a wide variety of some of the smaller game and is located in Swaziland’s main tourist hub, the Ezulwini Valley. The Hlane campsite has a swimming pool and is popular with tourists for the local wildlife which are very tolerant of humans. Hlane is home to animals such as Nyala, warthog and Impala graze that within meters of tourists.
Both campsites come with facilities such as Braai/BBQ areas, a restaurant, basic shop and an activity centre from which a wide range of activities are available to choose from such as bike tours and game drives.
The rates are very good from R80pp per night at Hlane (no electricity points) and R90pp at Mlilwane (electricity points) excluding the daily conservation fee of R40pp. The parks are just four hours car drive from Gauteng and a stone’s throw from Mozambique, Kruger and Kwa Zulu Natal, Swaziland’s premiere camping destinations are easy to include in both short and longer itineraries.
