Latest news from Malawi's Nyika-Vwaza Trusts
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - March 13th, 2013 - The Nyika-Vwaza Trusts are the only Malawian and UK trusts solely dedicated to conserving the precious wildlife and habitats of Northern Malawi, in particular the Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve.
Nyika-Vwaza has been doing some brilliant work in the Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve, all described in their latest Newsletter . So far this year, Françoise Dowsett-Lemaire, the eminent ornithologist, and her husband Robert Dowsett have conducted some interesting research on Nyika's forest birds, for example the female Cape (Malawi) Batis who preferred to live in a small degraded forest patch that was familiar to her, rather than move to a larger, and apparently better, patch that was unfamiliar. Botanist Isobyl la Croix offers a guide in Nyika-Vwaza’s latest newsletter to the Disa orchids of the Nyika.
Also, in honour of Harry Foot and his family in the UK and Malawi, the Foot Educational Fund has been launched, which aims to educate children in Malawi of the environmental and ecological issues facing the country.
