Excite Holidays has seen an increasing trend of bookings for seaside European destinations, outside of the major tourist destinations.
(TRAVPR.COM) AUSTRALIA - March 21st, 2013 - Excite Holidays has reported a 72% growth in new bookings to Europe for the first two months of 2013, compared to the same time last year.
In addition, Excite Holidays has seen an increasing trend of bookings for seaside European destinations, outside of the major tourist destinations.
George Papaioannou, CEO of Excite Holidays said: “the popular destinations like Paris, Rome, London and Madrid will still continue to be perennial favourites, but we are now seeing more agent enquiries and bookings for coastal European destinations, including Nice, Mykonos, Santorini, Dubrovik, the Amalfi Coast, Neapolitan Riviera and Ibiza.”
Mr Papaioannou further stated: “the relaxed atmosphere, rich history, unique architecture and amazing food make these coastal towns very popular for a seaside holiday.”
For January and February 2013, Excite Holidays has seen an increase of 53% for bookings to Mykonos, Nice (66%) and the Amalfi Coast (36%), compared to the same period in 2012.
Excite Holidays has also seen an increase in popularity for other European destinations in 2013, including Barcelona (50% increase in bookings), Amsterdam (32% growth) and Prague (40% increase).
Excite Holidays’ global inventory of over 200,000 hotels and apartments in over 150 countries and the ability for agents to book Greek Island ferry tickets, transfers, mini tours and activities for their customers have also contributed to the major increase in sales.
