For the 61st time, the catalan capital Barcelona will host the annual Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell from 20 to 28 April 2013.
(TRAVPR.COM) UK/SPAIN - April 18th, 2013 - Some of the world’s best male tennis players and tennis fans alike will be heading to Barcelona this April for the 61st annual Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell.
One of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world, and certainly the oldest in Spain, the Barcelona Open, also commonly referred to as the Trofeo Conde de Godó, is the most prestigious clay court challenge on the circuit. Over the decades, the tournament has become an icon of the city and a must attend event for those who are visiting Barcelona during its course.
Sponsored this year by Banco Sabadell, the Barcelona Open is a yearly tennis tournament for professional male tennis players. It has been held every year since 1953, and the matches all take place on clay courts. The tournament was originally part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit. Today, it belongs to the ATP World Tour’s 500 series.
Second only to the Madrid Masters, the Barcelona Open features some of the best male tennis players that the world has known. This year, Rafael Nadal will compete once again, having set a record by previously winning the singles title seven times.
The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell is set to run from Saturday, 20 April through to Sunday, 28 April 2013, with matches taking place all day and into the evening at the Real Club Tennis Barcelona, which is located downtown.
Scheduled for the end of April, during late spring, the average temperatures in Barcelona at this time of year are around 18°C, so spectators should attend the event dressed accordingly. Tickets and event passes may be purchased either via telephone or online.
