The latest news from Kayak Africa and Danforth Yachting.

(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - May 2nd, 2013 - Kayak Africa donates a huge bale of children’s clothes to around 300 Local Orphans

In the last four years, Kayak Africa have made clothes for the orphans looked after by Vision, a local man who runs an informal, but vital, feeding scheme for vulnerable children. This year, instead of using Mumbo’s old fabric to make the clothes they opted to buy a bale of children’s clothes for them from the charity which imports them. These clothes are more robust and longer lasting and there was worry that the chitenje clothes previously provided perhaps set the children apart too much. About 300 orphans benefitted from the distribution of the clothes and were absolutely thrilled with their new outfits. These orphaned children live with family members who struggle to feed and clothe the extra mouths, and this is why Kayak Africa have chosen to help Vision’s project by giving the clothes and making a substantial monthly contribution to his food costs.

Easter on Mumbo Island was “chocabloc” with a full camp and many happy guests. A few returning guests who had visited prior to new reed bungalows replacing Tent 1 and 5 were delighted to see the new accommodation and the general consensus was that they are “great”. As a special treat Kayak Africa managed to get hold of a box of Easter eggs on one of their shopping trips to the city and surprised our guests with a beautiful parcel of chocolate eggs on their morning tea tray!

New sails for the yacht Mufasa at Danforth Yachting!
With thanks to Illovo Sugar for sponsorship, the catamaran yacht Mufasa at Danforth Yachting is rigged with brand new, crisp sails, including a huge, colourful spinnaker. The Spinnaker, sometimes referred to as the ‘bag’ is a massive balloon like sail for use when sailing downwind. The thrill of catching the breeze and surging forward under the power of a fully flying spinnaker is something every sailor dreams of!

Danforth Yachting is situated at Cape Maclear in the Lake Malawi National Park. Surrounded by islands, this is one of the most beautiful locations on this magnificent lake. Danforth is both a yacht charter company and a luxury lodge, focusing on sailing and watersports.
