Waterville Valley Resort celebrates the Memorial Day kick-off to the summer season with a variety of activities for the whole family. On Saturday, May 25 from 8:30 to 11 a.m., the Casting for Kirby Youth Fishing Derby lets children try to catch Corcoran’s Pond legendary “Kirby” with prizes awarded across all age groups.
Sunday, May 26, is the 24th Annual Chowder & Microbrew Fest featuring award-winning chowder and a local favorite, the Smuttynose brew tent. Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under. Chowder sampling will run from noon to 2 p.m. Get there early to taste the best chowders in town and see who wins this year’s “Golden Clam Award.” Then, guests can head over to the brew tent and taste some of New Hampshire’s finest ales, hosted by The Lantern restaurant in the Town Square from noon to 4 p.m. New Hampshire band, Tore Down House, will play rock and blues music during the event in the Town Square gazebo. Cruise on the historic M/S Mount Washington and honor those that have served our country. Special Memorial Day weekend rates will be offered from Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27. Children cruise free on all daytime cruises during the weekend. On May 25, a special Salute to Service Dinner Cruise will honor public servants, from first responders, police, fire, EMTs, U.S. military personnel, veterans and more.
