(TRAVPR.COM) USA - May 15th, 2013 - Boston, Mass. − SATA Airlines will have daily flights from Boston to Portugal this summer. Beginning in mid-June, SATA Airlines will offer five flights to the Azores, two to Lisbon, and four (one-stop) to Porto each week. In fact, all of SATA's flights to the Azores connect on to Lisbon, meaning the airline will have daily flights to Lisbon. The summer schedule is valid until early October 2013.
The Azores is a collection of nine islands located in the Atlantic Ocean about midway between Boston and mainland Portugal. The closest point to Europe from the United States, the Azores is an autonomous region of Portugal, and just four hours by plane from Boston. The islands are becoming increasingly well known for eco-tourism, golf, and unique European cuisine.
Lisbon is about the size of Boston and is spread across the northern bank of the Tejo River, where it meets the Atlantic. It is the warmest and westernmost capital in Europe. Built on seven hills, visitors can and should take in panoramic views of the city by traveling to the top via elevators or funicular.
The city Porto sits near the end of the Douro River, close to the Atlantic and has medieval walls and a cathedral, a classical riverfront, as well as modern venues. Porto's is hilly, with many buildings built off a cliff face perched on the river. Across the river from Porto, in the city of Gaia, are warehouses of Port wine companies such as Calem, Fonseca, Sandman’s and Kopek.
SATA has connecting flights to Lisbon, Madeira and Porto from the Azores. Inter-island flights are offered to each of the islands in the Azores as well. SATA has connected North America with the Azores and mainland Portugal for more than 37 years. For more information and reservations, contact SATA at 800-762-9995 or visit www.sata.pt.
