ABC’s Bachelorette Desiree will look for her better half on one of the most romantic and adventures dates ever in Funchal.
(TRAVPR.COM) USA - May 22nd, 2013 - FUNCHAL-- Madeira Island, in Portugal, is the backdrop for a special date on “The Bachelorette's” new season. Premiering on Monday, May 27, ABC’s Bachelorette Desiree will look for her better half on one of the most romantic and adventures dates ever in Funchal.
For the second time, the reality show uses Portugal as scenery for a date. In the sixth season, the romantic ramparts of Castle of St. George, in Lisbon, and Sintra, recognized as one of the most fairytale places in the world, played host to a dreamy date.
On the new season, the Bachelorette will discover Madeira’s fascinating landscape and culture between a stroll through lush tropical gardens, tobogganing down the town's steep winding streets and a performance by a Fado singer.
On a one-on-one date, Desiree takes her suitor up a winding road through the clouds to the mountain peak of Pico do Arieiro for a romantic picnic and a fireworks display.
Madeira remains an uncrowned and sophisticated pearl of European charm, where visitors can experience the sea, mountain hiking, or city culture. Some of the greatest Americans discovered this secret a long time ago: George Washington was a great fan of Madeira wine and Ernest Hemmingway described his toboggan wicker basket as the “most exhilarating experience” of his life.
