The Mansion House, Old Warden will be hosting the Chilli and Gourmet Food Fiesta for the third year running, attracting chilli enthusiasts from all corners of the UK. This popular event promises even more entertainment for the growing band of discerning fans of chillies and gourmet food.

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - May 29th, 2013 - The Mansion House, Old Warden will be hosting the Chilli and Gourmet Food Fiesta for the third year running, attracting chilli enthusiasts from all corners of the UK. This popular event promises even more entertainment for the growing band of discerning fans of chillies and gourmet food.

In addition to exhibits from the UK’s leading chilli farms, chilli sauces and gourmet food specialists, this year the Chilli Fiesta will feature new events including a chilli eating contest, and the first ever Bedfordshire heat of Chilli Cook-off for teams of creative chilli chefs.

The Great British Chilli Cookoff is new to the UK.  It’s a traditional American-styled ‘Masterchef’ cookoff based on the classic spicy trail food. Each team has four hours to prepare one gallon of Chilli Con Carne to their own secret recipe. The final dishes will be judged by a professional panel, with the winning team receiving a cash prize of £250 and entry into the British Chilli CookOff Final. The winners of the UK final will win an expenses paid trip to Las Vegas to represent the UK at the World Chilli Cook Off. There will also be a public judging of the chilli dishes, the proceeds of which will go to to CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people and their families.

The famous chilli eating contest is not for the feint hearted, but very popular with audiences.  Brave chilli enthusiasts can enter this knockout competition and sample increasingly hot chillies and chilli products provided by Edible Ornamentals from their celebrated Bedfordshire nursery. Only the hardiest chilli heads have the staying power to ‘beat the heat’ of these fiery infernos.

There will also be a full schedule of cooking demonstrations throughout the day from chilli experts. Celebrity chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli, Aldo Zilli and British MasterChef Grant Hawthorne will be attending this year demonstrating creative ways to use chillies and add a real zest to a wide range of dishes.

Loads of food stalls offering samples of everything ‘chilli’, from chilli cheese to chilli chocolate, a children’s recreation area and music playing throughout the day will make the Chilli and Gourmet Food Fiesta a real family day out. The Fiesta will be held on Saturday and Sunday the 8th and 9th of June from 10am until 4pm.  Tickets can be purchased on the door or there is a discount for tickets pre-booked on-line.
