(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - June 13th, 2013 - The Lake of Stars Project will celebrate its 10 Year Anniversary by hosting City of Stars, a brand new city-based festival and arts conference. It's now been announced that the event will be held at the Sanctuary Lodge in Lilongwe, Malawi from 27 to 28 September 2013.
City of Stars is an exciting two-day arts festival and conference showcasing the best in emerging and acclaimed talent from Malawi and beyond. Featuring an eclectic programme of live music, film, theatre, exhibitions and speakers, it will promote Malawian culture and creativity as well as attracting international artists and arts practitioners.
Artists announced so far are:
George the Poet. A 21 year old wordsmith from north-west London whose poems tackle the forgotten side of the city, mixing social and political comment with humour.
Auntie Flo. An electronic artist hailing from Goa by way of Glasgow whose unique afro-futurist sound encompasses classic house, disco, techno and electronica influences alongside afrobeat, kwaito, cumbia, South American rhythms, and outsider music from all around the world.
The Very Best. Everyone’s favourite global-party-soundtracking Malawian/European duo made up of Malawian vocalist Esau Mwamwaya and London based producer Johan Hugo.
More acts, both international and Malawian, will be announced very soon.

City of Stars will be partnering with The Sanctuary Lodge to provide the venue, and have teamed up with Wilderness Safaris to offer tour and accommodation packages, as well as managing transport operations for the event. Wilderness Safaris will also be offering four different safari packages that all take in the Northern Shores of the lake and Liwonde National Park - Malawi's premier wildlife destination.
