A former top lawyer from the North West of England has had a complete change of career, country and lifestyle - organising creative holidays in Southern Tuscany.

Ann Alexander has set up Montisi Magica offering creative breaks based in and around a beautiful medieval hilltop village standing amidst stunning countryside just half an hour south of Siena in a very unspoilt part of Tuscany.

Ann bought a house on the main street in Montisi two years ago and after entertaining family and friends came up with the idea for Montisi Magica – so that others come and ‘live the dream’.

She said: “Lots of people who came to visit me commented how incredible the area is, and that they didn’t want to leave. The village is very special and full of artists and artisans. It gave me the idea of starting a niche tour business for individuals and small groups looking for something different.”

Ann, a mother of two, who now divides her time between Cheshire and Southern Tuscany, ran a pilot in October last year to launch the business which was a huge success.

Her first group of 2013 came in mid-May. They spent a week cooking, painting, visiting Siena, tasting wines, cheeses and olive oils and enjoyed much eating and drinking!

Tricia from Manchester wrote afterwards, “I had a fabulous week with Montisi Magica. I felt at home in Montisi from the good Tuscan food and live music at the bar on the first evening to a whistle stop tour of Arezzo and Pienza via chocolate and cheese shops on the last afternoon with the activity filled cooking, painting, tasting, eating and drinking of the week between. I loved it and I will be back.”
