According to a study by online marketplace website, Safaribookings.com, Tanzania is the top country for an African safari.
(TRAVPR.COM) UK - June 28th, 2013 - Over 1,000 safari travellers and industry experts took part in a two year long survey by the website which gave each country a score out of five stars in order to create the rankings. With 4.8 stars Tanzania came out on top, closely followed by Botswana, Kenya, Zambia and South Africa.
The study was based on over 2,000 reviews from safari travellers, many of whom had been on multiple safaris, as well as nearly 800 reviews from industry experts, including guidebook writers from Lonely Planet, Frommer’s and Footprint.
The main reason the country took the top spot is because it is home to two of the most famous safari destinations, the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Both places have a healthy population of wildlife, meaning visitors will enjoy excellent game viewing. But there’s a lot more to Tanzania than just these two places. The country is incredibly varied, with many different national parks and conservation areas as well as some spectacular natural landmarks, including the towering Mount Kilimanjaro.
“Tanzania is a fascinating and truly diverse country. Properties are often very remote, giving guests a real sense of adventure and the game viewing is superb all over; from the migration in the famous Serengeti and the elephants of the Tarangire to the wild dog of the Selous and the chimps of the lesser known Mahale Mountains National Park,” said Paul Hawley, Safari Design Consultant at Africa Exclusive. “Plus the country’s coastline and the beaches on Zanzibar are simply beautiful, perfect for a relaxing break after a Tanzania safari.”
