PACK IN SUMMER COOKING IN EAST BALI FOR YOUR VACATION AT ALILA MANGGIS
Industry: Accommodation

The newly refurbished seaside resort of Alila Manggis in beautiful East Bali has launched 'Summer Cooking' offering guests the chance to sample a wealth of complimentary experiences at its acclaimed cooking school.

(TRAVPR.COM) INDONESIA - July 3rd, 2013 - Guests who stay a minimum of three nights between now and 30 September 2013 will have the chance to enjoy a free half-day food experience, from baking Jaje Lak Lak Balinese cakes to concocting Jamu health drinks in the resort’s organic garden.

Whether a cooking enthusiast, a health conscious fanatic or travelling with family, guests can choose their preferred cooking class for their own unique foodie experience. For example, the Balinese Cuisine and Market Tour takes guests on a trip to Klungkung market and then into the kitchen to create Bali’s most popular dishes. Learn how to use the ubiquitous Ulekan (Balinese mortar and pestle) to make a famous Balinese Nasi Goreng (fried rice), and Sate Ayam (grilled chicken skewers) with Bumbu Bali (curry paste) and Bumbukacang (peanut sauce).

On the Seafood Adventure, guests head out on a jukung fishing trip to hook then cook their catch of the day. Guests at our boutique hotel in Bali can also combine yoga and a healthy lunch in the Food for Your Soul class, or families can enjoy some fun quality time together in the Junior Chef class, planting herbs and learning to bake traditional Balinese cakes.

The resort also offers a journey to its very own organic garden, hidden below the foothills of Mount Agung overlooking the sea. Here, you can practice the traditions of Balinese farmers by collecting seasonal ingredients and scaring the birds away while donned out in boots and rice hats.

Behind the creation of these delicious dishes, is our authentic chef and teacher, Executive Chef Nyoman Santika. Born and bred in East Bali, he has now returned to his homeland to teach guests how to cook the dishes he knows and loves. Visitors flock from all over the island to taste his Balinese Megibung – a pyramid of fresh East Balinese specialties – at Alila Manggis’ renowned alfresco restaurant, Seasalt.

Enjoying and learning to cook these signature Balinese dishes doesn’t end with your holiday though. Alila Manggis recently launched a cookbook titled “Cooking My Way Through East Bali”, featuring Chef Nyoman’s signature dishes, in an easy to follow step by step format. Guests can purchase the cookbook and enjoy making their favorite dishes at home, from Bumbu Bali (a Balinese spice) to Ikan Kare Dan Udang (Fish and Prawn Curry).

Nestled by the sea along the Balinese east coast with the sacred Mount Agung as backdrop, Alila Manggis with its coconut grove, pounding waves and newly refurbished rooms, makes for a refreshing summer escape.

The complimentary culinary experiences are valid for a minimum stay of three consecutive nights between 1 June and 30 September 2013. One culinary experience applies per reservation for maximum two persons per room. Room rates start from USD 170++ per night based on two sharing. The “Cooking My Way Through East Bali” cookbook can be purchased at Alila Manggis for USD 20++.
