Roxana Jaffer, Resident Director of Holiday Inn Dubai - Al Barsha, has pledged  “Guests who break their fast at The Gem Garden at the hotel,  this year will have the satisfaction of knowing that they have  generated a donation to feed four hungry children for a day at the Iftar. This initiative is part of our endeavor to make the world a better place for all. Every child and human deserves the basics of life. And the smallest contribution can make a difference. It takes only one dirham to provide a school meal to a child in need and a dollar from the revenue generated is given to the cause”

The global food situation is truly alarming. Every day more than 16000 children die from hunger-related causes – one child every 5 seconds. WFP is the food aid arm of the United Nations system and is dedicated to eradicating hunger and poverty.

Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha  launched  the " Loves You Campaign” launched in 2007 as part of the hotel’s endeavor to go beyond the bottom-line to demonstrate Corporate Social Responsibility.

The backdrop of the Campaign “Life isn’t worth living unless it’s lived for someone else”(Hadith of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) has allowed to inculcate within the staff members an ethos of giving and making a difference in the lives of others who they can see are less fortunate then themselves.

In the five years since its inception, the hotel staff have  successfully held various awareness and fund-raising drives under this amazing campaign thus contributing, in their own small way, to building civil society in the UAE whilst helping the needy in other parts of the world. Some noteworthy initiatives were the Valentine’s “Tea Party” for Children with special needs, 2010 “Pakistan Flood Relief” appeal sending 16 containers to rebuild destructed areas and Labour Camp “Carom Tournament” to give respite  to labourers who were not get paid during the recession as well as “Marathon” For a Cause , and  Iftar for underprivileged  and orphan children supported by “Action Care” and “Al Noor Training Centre”.

This year 'Loves You Campaign' has pledged from the revenue generated at every Iftar meal @ The Gem Garden to feed  4 hungry children for a day through the 'World Food Programme'.
