Theatrebreaks.co.uk, the UK's leading provider of West End theatre breaks, is pleased to announce the world premiere of Stephen Ward the Musical
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - July 10th, 2013 - Andrew Lloyd Webber has been a busy bee these past few years what with reviving many productions including The Sound of Music, Oliver and Jesus Christ Superstar as well as sitting on judging panels of his various "search for a star" tv talent shows. However, he's still found time to tinkle on the ivories and write a musical score for the world premiere of Stephen Ward the Musical which begins its previews at the Aldwych theatre on 3rd Decmber 2013.
Britain 1963... The scandal that shocked society!
Dr Stephen Ward was a 'society' osteopath who treated the rich and famous during the early years of the swinging sixties. He also had very libertine views and was a well-known party organiser for the British gentry. In 1962, during a party at Lord Astor's country pile, Clivedon, Ward introduced the then Secretary of State for War, John Profumo, to Christine Keeler, a London 'good-time' girl, who, whilst having a short affair with Profumo, was also inimately involved with a Soviet spy which, of course, comprimised national security. However, it was the subsequent trial of Stephen Ward which led the whole affair to a tragic conclusion.
Now, we may not want to openly admit it, but we are all secretly intrigued by sex scandals and it's not just Londoners who will have the chance to see this exciting new musical which is directed by Sir Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal) because with Theatre Break packages we can arrange tickets, accommodation and travel from anywhere in the UK with prices to suit all budgets.
Be one of the first to witness whether Stephen Ward the Musical brings down the house just as he brought down the British Government 50 years ago! Read more about Stephen Ward Theatre Breaks here
