C&M Recruitment Consultancy sees 12.76 per cent rise in new job vacancies since 2010

Following a period of caution and inactivity, the travel job market has rebounded to reach its most positive level this decade, according to C&M Recruitment Consultancy.

The claim follows the release of new figures showing that the number of new vacancies placed with the company in the first six months of the year increased by 3.01 per cent compared to 2012 and by a huge 12.76 per cent compared to the same period in 2010.

The annual increase is even more impressive considering the 0.83 per cent fall in new vacancies that was seen in the first half of 2012 compared to the first six months of 2011, and is a clear indication that companies’ hiring intentions are improving.

In addition, recent research from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG found that permanent job placements rose at their fastest rate since April 2011, while figures from the BDO claimed that UK companies’ intentions to create more jobs increased to their highest level in nearly two years.

Commenting on the figures, Barbara Kolosinska, sales director at C&M Recruitment Consultancy, said: “The number of new vacancies that we’ve had in the past few months has noticeably increased compared to last year and this is hugely encouraging for the job market and the economy as a whole.

“While it is still too early to say for sure, it definitely appears that companies are becoming more optimistic about their short-term prospects and are increasingly confident about creating new jobs.”

Ms Kolosinska added: “It’s also great to see that other surveys are reporting a similarly positive outlook, which is a fantastic indication that this upturn in recruitment is widespread.

“Of course, things can change quickly in the jobs market, but we are hopeful (and quietly confident) that the remainder of the year will be as positive as the first six months have been.”
