Lakes Region, NH - Soon after the launch of the Lakes Region’s new Inn to Inn Bike Tour along many of the region’s lakes, the tour welcomed visitors from California. A couple selected one of the inclusive packages that included traveling inn to inn by bicycle with meals, transportation, overnight accommodations and some of the best scenery you can find in New Hampshire.

The Inn to Inn Bike Tour was developed with the completion of the Northern Rail Trail, a 56 mile long, 13 feet wide outdoor venue that has been instrumental for such outdoor recreational opportunities. This new venue connects villages and their inns with a pleasant and safe ride. Bicyclists can enjoy the outdoors, visit the quaint villages, and experience fantastic culinary fare during their trip.

The Michells from California arrived on a Sunday at the Inn at Pleasant Lake where they enjoyed Chef Brian Mackenzie’s five-course dinner menu. On Monday they began their day trip to the Inn on Newfound Lake, passing through the villages of Wilmot Flat and Potter Place. After admiring the old railroad museum and historic country store of Potter Place, they picked up the Northern Rail Trail to Danbury. In Danbury, they enjoyed their lunch at the Danbury Country Store. From there, the trip took them along the romantic Smith River Valley up to Alexandria and down to Newfound Lake. At the Inn on Newfound Lake, the guests were joined for dinner by the innkeepers, Larry and Phelps. Tuesday morning they pedaled to Andover through Bristol where the Michells enjoyed a presentation in fudge-making at the The Mill Fudge Factory, and enjoyed their lunch. From Bristol, the Michells went to Profile Falls and the old Route 3A, a direct road through eight miles of beautiful woods. After passing Webster Lake, the guests went back on the Northern Rail Trail and arrived in the early afternoon at the Highland Lake Inn, where they were able to spend an afternoon swimming, kayaking and relaxing at the picturesque country inn. After dinner and a night with the Beaufays, Highland Lake Inn’s innkeepers, they returned on Wednesday to the Inn at Pleasant Lake to pick up their car and continue their New Hampshire vacation.

“We are already seeing the positive economic impact the Northern Rail Trail and our new Inn to Inn Bike Tour has brought to the Lakes Region and the State of New Hampshire,” states Amy Landers, the Executive Director of the Lakes Region Tourism Association. The new tour will impact many businesses while providing visitors exercise, fresh air and the opportunity to see all aspects of New Hampshire’s scenic beauty and natural resources.
