Holiday-makers to Caloundra on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast can take advantage of free WiFi internet access in the town’s main street during the September school holidays.
(TRAVPR.COM) AUSTRALIA - August 27th, 2013 - Holiday-makers to Caloundra on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast can take advantage of free WiFi internet access in the town’s main street during the September school holidays.
Internet service provider Net4 in partnership with the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce has made the service available in Bulcock Street, the CBD’s main shopping strip.
Caloundra tourism industry spokesperson Bill Darby said the initiative would benefit visitors allowing them to catch up on emails and web browsing.
“Assisting mobile device users to log on to the internet for free adds value particularly for visitors out and about dining or shopping who can make the most of the convenience of accessing the service in the heart of the CBD,” Mr Darby said.
“Offering a free service to connect with family and friends through social media while on holiday is all part of being an internet-friendly destination.”
The WiFi service is perfect timing for visitors who want to keep-up-to-date about the Caloundra Fringe Festival and Caloundra Music Festival programs, and upload their images.
The free WiFi service is available at hotspots along Bulcock Street between Otranto Street and Minchinton Street as part of a six-month trial.
The free WiFi comes hot on the news that the region is ranked the highest in Queensland in the annual Google eTown awards.
