A spokesman stated, “It had been a difficult decision to move the site from their previous address, firstly there had been some major work on brand awareness that would be written off in the process and even though the major redirect was functioning perfectly, customers would still be surprised to land at a new destination. Furthermore he stated that although the dot co domain was now designated a global domain, many people in the UK were still unaware of it relative to the dot co dot uk or dot com, and might be confused for a short period. However, compared to the major changes that will be happening within the domain landscape in the next year or so, we are very confident that the branding of the site Cottages.co will be very successful in the future.”

The Holiday Rentals market is vibrant in the UK but hugely competitive and this memorable brand name should help Cottages.co become one of the main Holiday Rental sites in the UK. The vast majority of the holiday rentals will continue to be Cottages, but the site also advertises apartments and other accommodation.

Cottages.co currently advertises properties throughout the UK, from Cornwall in the far South West to the Northern tip of Scotland. The Cornwall Cottages and Devon Cottages had seen solid bookings over the year, as had the Norfolk Cottages. The cottages in Wales had seen some increase over the previous year and the cottages in Ireland were proving popular. There may be some expansion into other regions or indeed countries as the website develops.

Work will continue on the site over the next few months so that the site is ready for the busy booking period in 2014. The decision to move the site prior to these developments was also a difficult one considering that it might have been better to wait for a huge launch. However the internet search engines might take some time to adjust to the new domain and it was decided that an earlier soft launch might be less disruptive and best completed in the quieter booking time of the year.
