Comedian Jody Kamali brings his sell out Edinburgh Festival comedy travel show to London, which opens its doors in October.
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - October 10th, 2013 - Hanging out with oddballs, getting high on chocolate and escaping from an Iranian house...all run of the mill events characterised in Jody Kamali’s ‘inspiring’ real life, sell out Edinburgh Festival comedy travel show.
The ‘A-Z of Backpacking’ is a guide to backpacking as told through the eyes of intrepid traveller and comedian, Jody Kamali. The show is based loosely on his personal tales and experiences with an honesty and humour that has crowds gripped from beginning to end. It aims to guide the audience through the trials and tribulations of backpacking while offering invaluable advice for those considering their own globetrotting adventure.
Jody, who is half Iranian, from Bristol, has always had a passion for exploring, something which first began when he ran away from his aunt’s house in Tehran when he was just six years old. Known by his parents as a ‘wanderer’, Jody has turned this passion for exploration and travelling into a show, which was so popular, he had to turn hoards of people away when he performed it to sell out crowds at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In his interesting take on the world of backpacking, Jody promises to take the audience on a virtual tour of the world through a backpacker’s eyes, touching on all manner of anecdotes including types of traveller, hostel etiquette and the high’s and low’s of the solo traveller.
His humorous take on a world relatively unknown to many is insightful and ‘very funny’ and follows on from his successful ‘Backpacker’ show in 2007 which was named by the Sunday Times as one of the Top 100 shows to see at that year’s festival.
Jody said of his show: “The A - Z of Backpacking is my travels laid bare – all of the mishaps, adventures and discoveries told in a way which brings the idea of backpacking around the globe to life. The show resonates in particular with anyone that has gone travelling in their lives. It’s the small things that travellers remember most of their time away.
“Because I’ve experienced it myself, I’m able to draw on this to deliver a show which I believe is my best yet, and to take it to London is really exciting for me. While it’s funny, it’s also a great insight into backpacking for those who have never experienced it or who are planning their own trip.”
Jody Kamali is a character comedian, actor and seasoned traveller. He is a regular performer on London’s alternative comedy and cabaret circuit.
The London show runs from 8pm – 9pm, 22-24th October at Wenlock & Essex, 18-26 Essex Rd, Islington N1 8LN with tickets priced at £6. For more information and to book tickets, visit www.azofbackpacking.com.
