October is always a great time for an air tour at the National Park. And it just got better. Especially this new set of deals that scare up some real savings.
(TRAVPR.COM) USA - October 28th, 2013 - Trick or Treat! Halloween is right around the corner and Grand Helicopter Tours is passing out discounts on flights that will shock you.
"Fall is the ideal time to take a Grand Canyon helicopter ride," said Keith Kravitz, owner of Grand Canyon Helicopters, a leading discounter of canyon air tours. "Making the season even better are a host of Halloween specials being rolled out by the top outfitters."
Kravitz is especially excited about end-of-the-month pricing on aerial tours that depart from Las Vegas. "With summer over, rates on this signature flight are ridiculously low," he said. "The only issue here is getting a seat because they tend to sell out quite quickly."
To avoid being stranded on the tarmac without a ticket, it's recommended that travelers book helicopter tours at least a week in advance. "Forget purchasing these flights within 24 hours," noted Kravitz. "Same goes for same-day reservations. Of course, you might find something, but in most cases a premium will be paid to take it."
The other Las Vegas flight that's got Kravitz' attention is one that lands at the bottom. "This is the most popular trip of all time," he said. "I'm rather surprised it’s on sale but so be it. It comes with a Champagne picnic and is great for special occasions. Further, it’s one of the few trips permitted to fly below the rim and land at the bottom. If it fits the budget, book it."
Kravitz also noted that this particular landing flight can be extended to include a boat ride down the Colorado River. "This is the tour that includes landing at the top and the bottom," he noted. "Once it's done, travelers to a degree have seen it all. It's really that comprehensive."
South Rim helicopters are also getting in on the Halloween savings, including 50-minute and 30-minute flights. "These helicopters depart from the airport just outside the front gates of the National Park," said Kravitz. "I particularly like the deal on the 50 because it's the one that lets you see the most park in under one hour."
Grand Canyon helicopter tours are available every day of the year including all major U.S. holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. "No matter when you want to fly, there's a helicopter tour standing by," said Kravitz.
Of course, the weather may be fickle, but that’s not an issue when flying with the most reputable companies in the business. “The best tour companies offer a 24-hour cancellation policy and a full refund," said Kravitz. "If there's a cancel due to weather, the top-tier providers will reschedule you on the next flight or whatever suits you best.”
To recap, Grand Canyon helicopters depart from Las Vegas, NV (from the Strip, Boulder City or Henderson) and Tusayan, AZ, which is the jumping off point for travelers based in central Arizona. Flights typically depart on the hour and stop just before dusk. Las Vegas helicopters only go to the West Rim while Tusayan trips only do the South Rim. There are no helicopter rides between the rims.
