Alila Villas Soori – Masters in Residence Series Featuring Mark Garrett Permaculture: Living in Harmony on Sustainable Eco Systems 9-13 December 2013
(TRAVPR.COM) INDONESIA - November 1st, 2013 - Permaculture design consultant Mark Garrett will be in residence at Alila Villas Soori in our luxury villas in Bali from 9-13 December 2013, to share his wisdom on unique gardening techniques to cultivate healthy plants with compost.
Mark’s design portfolio is extensive and includes creating sustainable homes using Permaculture design principles, building a Permaculture demonstration site on two acres of sub-tropical land in southeast Queensland Australia. Internationally Mark has designed projects on steering ‘organic waste to wealth’ for Six Senses Resorts and Spas in the Maldives, Bambu Indah Resort and Green Camp Bali. He was commissioned to design an Organic Wealth Centre and Sustainable Organic Food Garden for Richard Branson’s “Necker Island”. His work involves the creation of Permaculture Outdoor Class Rooms in the Maldives, Green School, Green Camp Bali, and designing numerous gardens for private clients in locations as diverse as Australia, Malibu, Barbados, Bali and the United Kingdom.
“I was first introduced to Permaculture in 1985 when I saw a documentary on Bill Mollison. He made so much sense that I pulled up my concrete driveway and planted trees all around my house” Mark explained. “That initial eureka moment led me to incorporate Permaculture Principles as a way of life and eventually studying for a Permaculture Design Certificate at Melbourne University taught by Bill Mollison, the co founder of Permaculture and Geoff Lawton. I have travelled extensively around the world to observe traditional gardening techniques and building designs. As the old saying goes, ‘nature is the best teacher’ and Permaculture provides positive solutions for us all, to create environmentally sustainable, harmonious and abundant ways of living.”
Mark will conduct classes on permaculture and sustainable living during afternoon tea at The Reading Room. In addition, several garden tours are slated to combine the demonstration on how to grow soil for sustainable organic food production.
