ANNUAL DOMINICAN CIGAR FESTIVAL 2014 TO BE HELD IN FEBRUARY

Santiago, the Dominican Republic’s second largest city, is also the cigar capital of the world. And from February 16-21 this important city will host the annual Dominican Cigar Festival. Santiago is situated in the very centRE of the Dominican Republic.

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - November 18th, 2013 - Santiago, the Dominican Republic’s second largest city, is also the cigar capital of the world. And from February 16-21 this important city will host the annual Dominican Cigar Festival. Santiago is situated in the very centRE of the Dominican Republic.  Cigar enthusiasts and world-famous cigar makers such as Davidoff, Avo Uvezian , H. Upmann , Don Diego, La Aurora, The Griffin’s, Partagas, Macanudo and Leon Jimenes will participate in this important event.

The fair, also known as Procigar 2014 is a five-day event that, as in past events, will celebrate part of the festivities in the eastern region town of La Romana.

The following world-famous tobacco companies, all running important operations in the Dominican Republic, will participate: Davidoff, Avo Uvezian, H. Upmann, Don Diego, La Aurora, The Griffin’s, Partagas, Macanudo, Leon Jimenes, Juan Clemente, Montecristo, Cohiba, Quesada Cigars, Zino, Romeo and Juliet and Fonseca.

This year participants will be able to participate in a one-day outing to “Cayo Arena,” a nearby key selected by Travellers Choice 2013 magazine as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.

The fair brings together manufacturers, distributors, retailers and consumers who are passionate about cigars.

Play Golf

The first part of the fair will be held in the exclusive Casa de Campo resort in La Romana, where participants will have the opportunity to relax on the beach, play golf, or take a day-trip to nearby Saona Island to enjoy its paradisiacal beaches. Also available will be scuba diving in the region’s crystal clear waters.  Also scheduled is a visit to the “Tabacalera de Garcia,” a local cigar factory.

In Santiago

In Santiago, participants will visit tobacco farms and cigar factories operated by General Cigar, Davidoff, Matasa, La Aurora Cigar Export Corporation, “Tabacalera La Alianza,” “La Flor Dominicana” and the Fuente Foundation, operated by the Fuente family.

Travel to Paradise

Also included in the program is a one-day excursion trip to “Cayo Arena,” a key situated off the country’s north coast, a catamaran trip along the coastline, seminars, a charity poker tournament and merengue classes
