WINTER VACATIONS FOR NON-SKIERS!
Industry: Ski

Ski Resorts Offer Plenty Of Fun For Everyone.

(TRAVPR.COM) NEW HAMPSHIRE - November 25th, 2013 - Savvy vacationers have discovered that planning a winter vacation at or near a ski area offers plenty of activities for everyone in the family.  In the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, the winter months are filled with skiers enjoying their downhill sport, and at the same time the non-skiers are snowshoeing, tubing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and zip lining! Yes, zip line fans love to continue their passion even in the snow! Gondola sky rides give non-skiers a memorable scenic winter experience, and everyone enjoys the ambience of dining on the slopes and visiting area shopping attractions.  After all, you can’t ski all day!

Non-skiers will definitely find something to keep them occupied at Gunstock Mountain in Gilford, NH. The resort itself is a skier’s paradise, with over 50 trails, 227 skiable acres, and 120 inches of average snowfall, but the resort also has snowshoeing trails, ziplines, tubing and more. While all the things to do at Gunstock might be enough to keep skiers and non-skiers alike entertained for their entire getaway, it’s also situated right in the heart of the Lakes Region, perfect for visiting attractions and sightseeing. Famous Lakes Region attractions like Funspot, the world’s largest arcade, and Kellerhaus, with their beautiful candy and gift shop, are minutes away.

Another Lakes Region ski areas is Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH. Skiers love the 370 skiable acres, 12 lifts (including 3 high-speed quads), and 160 inches of average annual snowfall. Non-skiers love the scenic gondola sky rides, ice skating, snowshoeing, zip lines, and special events. Close by in Lincoln is also Sledventures Snowmobile Rentals, which offers guided and unguided tours of spectacular White Mountain trails with gear included. In Lincoln is also the Franconia Notch State Park, home to many natural wonders like the granite Basin, the Indian Head, Georgiana Falls, and more.

With a 2,112 foot vertical drop, a snow condition guarantee, and a season that goes from late November all the way to the end of April, it’s no wonder that Wildcat Mountain in Jackson, NH is a favorite Lakes Region and White Mountains ski area. It’s also in a perfect central location for visiting two New Hampshire tourism favorites: the Settlers’ Green Outlet Village in North Conway and the summit of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. Aside from these popular sites, though, visitors often find themselves drawn to just exploring the beautiful scenery in the area, including Jackson Falls, Ellis River Falls, and the areas of Wildcat Mountain not dedicated to winter sports.

At Attitash Ski Resort in Bartlett, NH, visitors get two mountains for the price of one. This resort has a lot of reasons to be recommended, but some of its most notable features are the Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster and the nine different places to grab a bite to eat scattered around the mountains. Outside of the resort itself, Attitash is only miles away from the start of what some people call the most beautiful views in New England on the Kancamagus Highway.

Cannon Mountain in Franconia, NH has the longest vertical drop in New Hampshire (2180 feet!) on its 23 miles of trails and 264 skiable acres, so it’s not a surprise that it was voted as one of the Top 20 Ski Resorts in the East by readers of SKI Magazine. But it also has its own Aerial Tramway with staggering views of the mountain itself and the surrounding areas. Not far away is one of the highlights of the Franconia Notch State Park: the Flume Gorge, a natural gorge surrounded by waterfalls, glacial boulders, and breathtaking views.

As well as its normal array of acclaimed trails and terrain parks with views of Mount Washington, Mount Kearsarge, and Mount Lafayette, Ragged Mountain Resort in Danbury, NH has a new ten-lane tubing park for this winter season and New Hampshire’s only high-speed six-pack ski lift. Two towns over is the historic Enfield Shaker Museum with guided tours, craft demonstrations and access to Shaker buildings all included in the admission price.

King Pine at Purity Spring Resort in East Madison, NH is a nature-lover’s dream. It has an ice skating dome, snowshoeing tours, tubing, and horse-drawn sleigh rides along with its 17 trails and freestyle terrain park. The resort is surrounded by a beautiful wildlife sanctuary and is very close to Silver Lake, White Lake and White Lake State Park, and the Madison Boulder Natural Area while still not being too far from the North Conway outlets or the shops in Moultonborough and Center Harbor.

The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is a winter wonderland of activities just waiting to be explored. And, the Lakes Region Tourism Association offers free vacation planning assistance to make the most of your visit.

The Lakes Region Tourism Association is the official tourism board of the region, representing close to 100 communities, 273 lakes and ponds, and more than 400 businesses in central New Hampshire, including area attractions, restaurants, retail establishments and accommodations.
