umi Digital, the creative company set up to provide travel and tourism businesses with specialised digital marketing services has opened a second office in Salford’s Media City. The new office will offer young people the opportunity to gain direct work experience in design, marketing and digital development roles.
(TRAVPR.COM) UK - December 12th, 2013 - Media City on Manchester’s Salford Quays is the ultimate business address for creative brands in the North-West and umi Digital has secured space in The Landing, in conjunction with the University of Salford.
"The University of Salford's internationally-recognised thought-leadership in digital technologies is increasingly attracting creative, media and digital companies to Salford. I am particularly delighted that we are able to welcome Steve Lowy and umi to Salford Quays and Media City. Steve, a graduate of Salford Business School, is a visionary business leader who personally invests so much to the next generation of talent. He ably demonstrates the mutual value of businesses working in partnership with the University and our joint success in developing the intellectual capital of the future. I wish Steve and the umi team every success in this new venture!" commented Professor Amanda Broderick, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Dean of Salford Business School.
umi Digital already hosts students in internship positions from many academic institutions including the University of Salford, and has won awards for its efforts including the Silver ‘Best Support Service’ Award at the 2013 British Youth Travel Awards. This new office location will provide talented young people at the other end of the country with the same opportunities to gain valuable work experience. CEO Steve Lowy is excited to be able to give back to the university that he credits with giving him the confidence and knowledge to start his own business.
He said “I believe that a second office in Salford positions umi Digital in the creative hub of not only the North-West but soon to be Europe. Our location will allow us to work with talented and creative young people but also support the growing tourism industry in the north of England. We are keen to export great British design internationally and having hubs in two recognised UK creative hubs (London and Salford) will give us a great platform to do this”.
