(TRAVPR.COM) VIETNAM - December 27th, 2013 - HUE, Viet Nam -- Seasoned travellers from around the globe lauded four Vietnamese hotels among the best worldwide, according to the latest survey by Travel + Leisure magazine.
Announced last week, the ‘T+L 500’ compendium of top international hotels listed five-star properties Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Park Hyatt Saigon, The Nam Hai in Hoi An, and for the first time, La Residence Hotel & Spa in Hue (http://www.la-residence-hue.com).
Travel + Leisure, one of the globe’s highest circulating travel magazines, invited its readers to participate in the annual survey by answering a questionnaire and rating hotel candidates in five categories: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants and value. A minimum number of responses was required for a hotel to be eligible for inclusion in the World’s Best awards, considered one of the most important in the industry.
The 112-year-old Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi once again earned the highest marks among Vietnamese contenders, while all-villa resort The Nam Hai made its second appearance on the prestigious list, and art-deco hotel La Residence claimed its first win from Travel + Leisure readers. Mombo Camp and Little Mombo Camp in Botswana led the winners with an average score of 96.60.

The hotel’s distinctive bowed façade, its long horizontal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmarks of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture. The hotel’s 122 rooms and suites, restaurants, lounges, bars and conference room are tricked out in complementary art-deco furnishings and décor that evoke both the 1920s and 1950s. The hotel’s fine-dining venue, Le Parfum, serves Mediterranean and French cuisine, as well as dishes from a complementary Vietnamese menu. The conference facilities, including board rooms, can accommodate 140 guests. The hotel provides complimentary WiFi Internet access in the ground floor lounges and in Le Gouverneur ifself.
