Snowmobiling In the Lakes Region of NH

(TRAVPR.COM) NEW HAMPSHIRE - January 3rd, 2014 - The New Hampshire Lakes Region brings in hundreds of thousands of tourists each year to visit and enjoy the variety that the changing seasons have to offer. The winter season especially is a sight to be seen, with quaint New England villages, blankets of snow covering the mountains and ice fishing huts dotting the frozen lakes. While skiing and other mountain sports are widely popular, snowmobiling is a favorite activity that is easily accessible and popular in the Lakes Region.

Snowmobiling in the Lakes Region is a unique experience and there really is no better way to explore the deep woods and see views of the region that visitors wouldn’t otherwise see. There are more than six thousand miles of snowmobiling trails throughout the region that are maintained by volunteers and snowmobile clubs who dedicate their time to cleaning up trails, building bridges, placing signs and grooming the trails among other tasks.

Many, who visit the region, enjoy this winter activity by renting a snowmobile or taking guided snowmobile tours. For example, SledVentures located in Lincoln is a tour company specializing in guided tours by snowmobile – all gear included!

Along the trails, there are many dining attractions that welcome snowmobilers without going far off the trail. A few examples of restaurants that welcome snowmobilers are T-BONES/Cactus Jack’s and Water Street Café in Laconia, Shibleys at the Peir in Alton Bay as well as Patrick’s Pub & Eatery in Gilford.

Visitors looking to stay for the weekend have a variety of choices of B&B’s and hotels that welcome snowmobilers and offer ample parking for sleds and trailers, many of which offer special packages specifically for snowmobiling. Coppertoppe Inn & Retreat Center in Hebron is in the center of it all, with access to more than 100 miles of snowmobile trails. The Follansbee Inn in Sutton sits right across the street for the snowmobile trail heads, making it a convenient location for staying the night. In Gilford, snowmobilers will find the Fireside Inn right on Trail #15 where riders can warm up after their ride in the indoor heated pool, whirlpool or by the fireplace.  Additional hotels that offer parking and direct access to snowmobile trails include the Kancamangus Lodge in Lincoln, the Sun Valley Cottages in Weirs Beach, the Econolodge in Plymouth, The Inn On Main in Wolfeboro, Black Swan Inn in Tilton and Nutmeg Inn in Meredith.

The Lakes Region Tourism Association is the official tourism board of the region, representing close to 100 communities, 273 lakes and ponds, and more than 400 businesses in central New Hampshire, including area attractions, restaurants, retail establishments and accommodations.
