Festival content solutions provider, The Festival Gadget, has begun compiling a database of worldwide festival content for syndication.
(TRAVPR.COM) FINLAND - January 22nd, 2014 - Festival content solutions provider, The Festival Gadget, has begun compiling a database of worldwide festival content for syndication.
Following on from their success with 2camels.com — which has been offering up free festival content for thousands of festivals and events, to millions of visitors since 2001 — the company has decided to create a business to business product to address what they see as a tangible gap in the online travel market.
Kicking off in December 2013, their experienced team of travel writers began putting together a database of festival listings, documenting 4,000 festivals from 500 cities worldwide.
A phased offering of their festival database product — including 1,000 festival listings from 200 cities in Europe — will be available for syndication by the end of May 2014.
The information for each festival listing includes:
the festival name and clean URL
a professionally-written, 50 to 120 word festival description
festival location information (address, city, country and latitude and longitude coordinates)
the festival dates for this year and next (where available)
the festival genres (film festivals, jazz festivals, street parades, etc.)
the festival email contact, website and Twitter information
In all, each of the 4,000 listings will contain 21 fields of pertinent festival information that will be kept up to date by The Festival Gadget staff.
The Festival Gadget database will be made available — in full or on a city-by-city basis — for use by premium travel websites and travel apps by subscription. Pricing will be on a sliding scale and largely determined by the number of festival listings a client chooses to display.
Delivery methods will be flexible and include XML and hosted MySQL solutions.
"Rarely has a month passed in the 13 years we've been running 2camels.com, that we haven't been approached to provide festival content to a third-party travel website, including some of the very biggest names in the industry. Unfortunately we've never been able to fully explore that route. Until now.
"What we're putting together with The Festival Gadget is the perfect product to fill that gap in that market. A quality offering built with the professional online publisher in mind. A product based on our 13 years of knowledge in the online festival publishing industry," says Paul Dodson, the contributing editor of The Festival Gadget.
“Whether a potential client is looking to run with a dozen festival listings covering a single destination for a city guide website, or to integrate all 4,000 of our festival listings into a full-blown, travel e-commerce website or app, we hope to be the company that provides their online festival content solutions"
