Freedom to travel at your own pace plus local know-how along the way
(TRAVPR.COM) UK - February 7th, 2014 - Independent travellers who want the freedom to travel at their own pace, but don't want to miss out on the local know-how provided by a tour, can now enjoy the best of both worlds with the launch of Urban Adventures' new Fun Independent Travel (FIT) Passes, which combine a flexible ground transport pass with day tours led by locals in major destinations en route.
Urban Adventures, which offers unique day tours led by locals in 90 destinations around the world, has teamed up with Bamba Experience, a transport provider that operates across Asia, the Americas and Africa, to launch its first FIT passes across south-east Asia, with FIT passes for North America and Eastern Europe to follow soon.
Three passes are currently available, including the Bangkok to Hanoi Pass which offers point-to-point ground transport between the two cities, day tours with an English-speaking local in nine destinations - Bangkok, Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, the Mekong Delta, the Cu Chi Tunnels, Hoi An, Hue, Halong Bay and Hanoi - plus an international SIM card with a 24/7 concierge support service.
The Bangkok to Hanoi Pass costs USD1,065 (approx. AUD1,214/ CAD1,188/ EUR780/ GBP643/ NZD1,288), can be used for up to a year and also runs in reverse from Hanoi to Bangkok. Shorter routes from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City (USD565) and Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi (USD690) are also available.
Urban Adventures recommends accommodation along the route, but it is not included in the FIT passes, so travellers can stay where they like, for as long as they like, to suit their budget and preferences.
"Fun Independent Travel Passes give travellers the freedom and flexibility to choose how long they want to stay in each destination, along with a local friend in each place who will give them the lowdown on the cool things to see and do, that only locals know," said Tony Carne, Urban Adventures' General Manager.
"It's a great value way to travel, as you're not locked in to a fixed itinerary and can take advantage of late deals and specials, plus it suits travellers who want to be a bit more spontaneous, as the international SIM card means you can make your transport and tour bookings on the fly," Carne added.
Travellers can book FIT passes at Urban Adventures dot com or via travel agents.
