IT IS TIME TO PREPARE FOR A TIBET TOUR TO EVEREST BASE CAMP
Industry: Tours

Good preparation always makes a wonderful trip. Tibet Travel Org CITS provides some professional advice on how to prepare a tour to Everest Base Camp in 2014.

(TRAVPR.COM) TIBET - February 13th, 2014 - Visiting Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, is the dream of a lifetime for many travelers. With the development of tourist infrastructure in Tibet, Everest Base Camp has become an accessible destination for visitors from far away. The best time to visit Everest is approaching, so preparations should be made for a tour to Everest Base Camp.

Generally speaking, summer is the best season to visit Tibet, but not Everest because the mountain always hides in mist. To enjoy the best visibility and comfortable temperature, it is best to visit Everest Base Camp from April to early June. During these months, the temperature at the base camp is around 15 degrees centigrade in the daytime and minus 5 at night. The spectacular view of Everest with its beautiful sunrise or sunset makes a trip of a lifetime. April to early June is also the best time to climb Everest and trek to Everest Base Camp from Tingri, a small town in Tibet. Thousands of climbers and travelers from all over the world gather at the foot of Everest, turning the base camp into a sea of colorful tents or a small base of United Nations.

Travelers can follow five steps to prepare for the trip:

Step one: Design an itinerary. It is not difficult to design the itinerary at all because one will easily find classic tour guides to this amazing place on internet. All travelers need to consider if they only want to visit Mt. Everest or make an overland tour from Lhasa to Kathmandu with a detour to the mountain. Anyway, this trip generally takes 7 to 9 days. The cost depends on the specific services.

Step two: Choose a reliable travel agency. Most travelers know that all foreigners traveling to Tibet must be part of an organized tour, and that a travel agency is a must. Although there are dozens of travel agencies offering Tibet tour services, only a few, like Tibet Travel CITS, are able to provide high-quality services and authentic local experience at reasonable price.

Step three: Apply for a Chinese Visa and Tibet Permits. One can apply for a Chinese visa from a Chinese Embassy easily. However, travelers should take note that Tibet is a politically sensitive place. Besides a Chinese visa, travelers need to apply for two more documents, Tibet Entry Permit issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau (aka Tibet visa among westerners) and Alien's Travel Permit issued by Foreign Affairs Division of the local Public Security Bureau.

Step four: Think about the way to get to Tibet. Currently, foreign travelers can fly or take a train to Tibet from mainland China or fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu. Getting to Tibet by train is very popular among both domestic and overseas travelers because the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is known as the world’s highest and the most scenic railway in China. But whichever way a traveler chooses depends on his interest, budget and the length of the travel.

Step five: Prepare luggage. As Tibet is a remote place with high altitude and harsh climate, it is highly recommended to double check your luggage before the trip. Do not forget your travel documents, warm clothes, sunglasses, sunhat, skin care products, common medicine and other necessities.

Last but not the least, keep fit. Good health will help travelers adapt to the environment of Tibet quickly and make a smooth trip.

The above advice is provided by Tibet Travel Org, a top online Tibet tour operator with over 12 years' experience in organizing Tibet tours for foreign travelers.
