The lingum-

As per Hindu epic; Lord Shiva is the lord of good over evil. His other name is called as Rudra. In Rig Veda, it is said here in this cave, the Himalayas, Lord Shiva shared the secret of his immortality to his wife Goddess Parvati. The place is believed to be holy since that time period, and has been the place of worshiping Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is prayed in a form of lingum, which surprisingly in Amarnath gets naturally formed of ice stalagmite for a certain time period, and vanishes, once the time period gets over. Millions of devotees throng over here, to witness as self spectator of Lord Shiva lingum along with other two lingums, as mata Parvati and his son Ganesh; and get blessings.

How to reach-

Amarnath is well connected with all three major transportation networks of India.

·        Air: nearest airport – Srinagar; flights connecting from Delhi and Jammu

·        Rail: nearest railway station – Jammu; trains connecting from every major railway junction.

·        Road: well connected from Jammu and Srinagar; rental cars, taxis, buses easily available.

Though having proper connectivity of the transportation network, it's not easy to reach Amarnath, as few parts of the journey have to go through high rocks, cliffs and mountains, all covered by feet.

Booking open from 1st March-

Amarnath 2014, is opening its registration and booking from 1st of March, whereas Yatra will start from 28th June till 10th August. The registration, is opened as per the basis of first come first serve. Several designated Bank Branches,  are open for registration. On registration, a health certificate issued by the government, which gives a permission for further Yatra. Get your name registered and a health clearance certificate for Amarnath Yatra 2014.
