Grand Hyatt Goa will host Swimathon 2014, an open water sea swimming event at Bambolim Bay

(TRAVPR.COM) INDIA - March 14th, 2014 - Panaji : With the aim to raise funds for ‘Children’s Rights in Goa (CRG), an organisation dedicated to the protection of children, Grand Hyatt Goa will host Swimathon 2014, an open water sea swimming event at Bambolim Bay – one of Goa’s safest bays on Sunday 16 March 2014.

Swimathon 2014 will have three different events, for swimmers of differing capabilities. In the 2-km full Swimathon, swimmers starting from the beach will swim out 1 km, round a boat, and back to the bay. In the 1-km Half Swimathon, swimmers start from the shore, swim out 500 meters round a buoy and swim back to the bay shore. In the 250-metre Long Short Swim, swimmers will swim parallel to the bay’s shore, within their depth.

For safety, the Goa Yachting Association (GYA) providing rescue boats, ‘Drishti’ will provide trained lifeguards and a Jet Ski, and the Goa Kayaking Club will support by providing close cover kayak support over the 1-km swimming course. The rescue operation team will carry emergency flotation devices as well as water and oral rehydration fluid for participants in need. Trained paramedics and doctors will be available onsite.
