Salaries increase again
Average travel salaries rose again in February to reach their highest level since August 2013. The figure of £24,588 marked a 2.32 per cent increase from January and meant that wages have increased for the second consecutive month, according to the latest Travel Salary Index from C&M Recruitment Consultancy and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment, which surveyed all new vacancies registered at the companies in February.
However, the index saw sharp annual falls with average salaries for new travel jobs dipping by 9.97 per cent compared to February 2013 due to last year’s unusually strong start.
Commenting on the figures, Barbara Kolosinska, sales director at C&M Recruitment Consultancy and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment, said: “Average salaries for new travel jobs rose again in February and have now reached their highest level since last August, which is a great sign that companies are willing to invest more money to capture the best candidates available.
“The year has certainly got off to a positive start and we see no reason to think that the next few months will be any different.”
New vacancy and candidate numbers also healthy
February also saw encouraging signs from the number of new vacancies and candidates registering at the companies in the month. There was a strong 18.83 per cent annual increase in the number of new travel jobs being created, while the number of new candidate applications dipped by just 0.56 per cent compared to the figure seen in January.
“With another annual rise in the number of travel jobs being created, this just confirms that many companies in the sector are making plans to get the best team in place for what is likely to be a busy year ahead,” said Ms Kolosinska.
“We’ve also seen a great number of new registrations from people already in the industry looking to find new jobs in the next few months, indicating that many employees are re-entering the job market and considering their options.”
