In February 2014, guest artist Nick Rains led Jodhpur Discovery, a very successful photography workshop, to Rajasthan, India. A trip report is now available for viewing
(TRAVPR.COM) USA - April 11th, 2014 - The Jodhpur Discovery photography workshop ran from 11 - 22 February, 2014. Led by guest artist Nick Rains the group travelled from Delhi to Rajasthan where they focused on the city of Jodhpur and bases nearby.
The group of 6, along with their local tour leader Harshwardhan, moved between bases in Delhi, Jodhpur, the Thar Desert near Osian, the village of Chendelao and Pushkar. The photographic opportunities included landscapes, portraits and street photography as well as special sessions for time-lapse and long-exposure photography. Nick gave instruction and feedback throughout, as well as two more formal sessions of critique.
Each photographer compiled a portfolio of thousands of images from the trip. One of the participants, TomM, said:
"I feel I have gained an enormous jump in knowledge from all involved, and believe it is visible in the quality of the photographs taken. Before the tour I estimated that 5-10% of my photos were of good quality, this has changed to 10-20%. Noting that I took over 3500 photos I have over 400 photos I’m proud of."
Nick Rains summed up the success of the trip in his Facebook post of 26 February:
"I think it's fair to say that we had some of the best and most varied photographic opportunities of any trip that I have done in the past couple of years. That's the whole MO of my trips with Photo Tours Abroad - it's all about setting up the best chances of getting the best photos in the most interesting locations."
