NEW ECO-LODGE BLUEPRINT FOR RESPONSIBLE SOLOMON ISLANDS TOURISM FUTURE

The newly opened Titiru Eco Lodge in Rendova, Western Province, has been described as a perfect example of how Solomon Islands tourism plant needs to be developed.

(TRAVPR.COM) SOLOMON ISLANDS - May 17th, 2014 - Solomon islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) CEO, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto has described the newly opened Titiru Eco Lodge in Rendova, WesternProvince, as providing a perfect example of how tourism plant in the Solomon Islands needs to be developed into the future.  “Geographically and culturally we offer the world a unique product,” Mr Tuamoto said.

“Introducing this type of responsible tourism product that conserves our pristine environment while helping to improve the welfare of the local people is very much the way forward for this destination.

“Eco-tourism has become a by-word for an ever-increasing number of very environmentally aware travellers,” Mr Tuamoto said.

“While currently we may only be a small destination on the world tourism map, we know and we have been quick to realise that delivering the right type of product and catering to the right kind of traveller will play a major part in our aspirations for the local tourism industry.” 

Comprising four bungalows, Titiru Eco Lodge is located on the north coast of Rendova Island, a 20-minute boat ride from MundaAirport which is serviced daily by Solomon Airlines domestic services.
