(TRAVPR.COM) USA - July 4th, 2014 - WATERVILLE VALLEY, NH  (July 4, 2014) – The Rey Center Summer lecture series, entitled “Trails and Tales from the Wilderness”, continues with The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie, by hiker Dan Szczesny on Friday July 11, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.  When hiker Dan Szczesny and his nine-year-old ward, Janelle, first set foot on the trail to Mt. Kearsarge in Nov. 2011, neither of them knew that this easy hike to one of the state's most popular mountain tops would change both their lives. But what followed was a hiking odyssey that lasted over a year as the two hikers cross-crossed the state on their way to a 225-mile epic attempt to complete a little-known hiking list called The 52 With a View. Come meet the author, hear his story first hand, and get your book signed! This lecture is generously sponsored by Waterville Valley’s Town Square Merchants and Wayne and Barbara Thornbrough.

About the Presenter:

Dan, the associate publisher of The Hippo, is a long-time journalist and writer. He's a member of the AMC's 4,000-footer club and has written extensively about the outdoors and hiking. Most recently, he spent a month in Nepal trekking to Everest Base Camp. This lecture is sponsored by the NH Humanities Council as well as Wayne and Barbara Thornbrough. NH Humanities Council sponsored lectures are free and open to the public.

The Rey Center Friday Night Lecture Series is a great night out. Come into Waterville for dinner at one of our local restaurants, and attend an inspiring lecture. Lecture fees and donations support the Rey Center’s art, science and nature education programs.  All lectures are held in the Margret and H.A. Rey Center Art Gallery on the second floor in Town Square. The 2014 Summer Lecture Series is sponsored by Wayne and Barbara Thornbrough. Lectures are free for Rey Center members and only $5 for not-yet-members (unless otherwise stated).
