Here are some free outdoor concerts taking place this summer in VenturaCountyWest (cities of Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura) that shouldn’t be missed.
On select Saturdays now through September 6, the Camarillo Arts Council holds live concerts at Constitution Park. Highlights include a Fab Four tribute August 9, a tribute to the music of 1964 on August 23 and Raymond Michael as Elvis on September 6. http://www.camarilloartscouncil.org/
The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard is holding it’ 2nd Annual Rock The Collection Summer Concert series, taking place Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. through August 23. L.A. Vation, a U2 tribute band, is set for August 2, with Seedless, a progressive rock/reggae band, scheduled for August 16. Other tribute bands are also on tap. Order food to go from one of RiverPark’s dozen restaurants including Toby Keith’s I Love this Bar & Grill, Lazy Dog, Famous Dave’s BBQ and Five Guys Burgers and Fries and enjoy the sounds. http://www.thecollectionrp.com/.
Peninsula Park at the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard is one of those great finds. The most of the park rims the harbor. The Ventura Harbor Village is perfect for strolling, grabbing a bite to eat at a harbor side restaurant, playing in the arcade, riding the carousel or cruising the harbor in your own paddle or electric boat, but the village on weekends through August is hopping with steels drum performances (Saturdays) and surf, reggae and blues on Sundays. Finally, Heritage Square in Oxnard is home to summer concerts every Friday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Lawn seating is free, plaza seating is $5. County, light rock and even a Woodstock tribute (September 5) is on the schedule. www.heritagesquareoxnard.com
