(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED STATES - July 17th, 2014 - European Waterways, Europe’s largest luxury hotel barge cruising company, has announced a last-minute special offer of $2,000 off per cabin for select departures on some of its most popular luxury hotel barges. The specials apply to the Anjodi, cruising the Canal du Midi, for departures on August 10th and 17th; La Belle Epoque on the Burgundy Canal, for departures on August 17th and 24th; and Rosa on the Canal de la Garonne in the Bordeaux region, for departures on August 10th, 17th, and 24th. European Waterways is also waiving the single supplement fee on Anjodi and La Belle Epoque for these departures. Special offers cannot be combined and must be booked by August 8th. They include all meals, wines, an open bar, planned excursions, and local transfers.
Canal du Midi
The 8-passenger Anjodi was especially built to navigate the uniquely designed 330-year old Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southern France. While onboard, guests are catered to by a highly professional and attentive crew, comprised of a Captain, master chef, tour leader, and hostess, who ensure their experiences are memorable. In addition to enjoying luxury accommodations, passengers are also treated to a wide range of excursions that include a private wine tasting and tour of the 14th century Chateau de Perdiguier; a visit to Narbonne, which boasts a bustling food market, and a tour of the Archbishop’s Palace, home to several museums that offer glimpses into the archaeology, art, and history that shaped the region.
Excursions also include a stop in Pézenas, widely known as “the town of Moliere” for its associations with the noted French actor and playwright.
The Burgundy Canal
Renowned for its more than 60,000 acres of vineyards, Burgundy produces some of the finest wines in the world. The 12-passenger hotel barge La Belle Epoque offers a spacious and comfortable environment, designed with both ease and elegance in mind. Complete with a sun deck, spa pool, a wood paneled saloon, and open bar, the vessel is ideal for scenic tours through the historic region of Burgundy. The cruise features wine tours and “up close and personal” excursions into the everyday lives of its people that are not usually experienced by the common tourist.
Passengers on La Belle Epoque are invited to tour the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Abbaye de Fontenay, one of the oldest Cistercian abbeys in Europe; visit the village of Flavigny sur Ozerain, the location of the celebrated film “Chocolat”; and marvel at the beauty of the 16th century Château de Tanlay, renowned for its Renaissance-style architecture and serene charm. La Belle Epoque also offers convenient chauffeured transfer services to and from a designated hotel in Central Paris.
The Bordeaux Region
With wine a major theme, hotel barge Rosa’s itinerary is perfect for lovers of fine vintages. Guests are invited to explore the 2,000-year-old wine-growing region of Bordeaux with its special ‘terroir’ – the unique composition of the land that imparts a unique quality to the wine – and participate in excursions that include a wine tasting at Château Bausejour-Bescot near Saint Emilion and visits to the medieval towns of Nerac, Vianne and Le Mas d’Agenais.
“Whether or not they take advantage of our last-minute specials, our guests are assured that every cruise in our extensive fleet is special,” said Derek Banks, managing director of European Waterways. “We are committed to providing our guests with one of the most memorable, most special vacations they’ve ever had.”
